The City Planning Department is charged with the responsibility of carrying out the City's planning function including the preparation and updating of the City's Comprehensive Master Plan. The Department also administers some Ordinances implementing the adopted plan.
These implementation mechanisms include the Access Management Policies and Guidelines (PDF), the Subdivision Regulations (PDF), and the Zoning Code (PDF). Additionally, the Department has oversight of the contract with the Wood County Health Department for the Housing Code.
Zoning Code Update
The City passed Ordinance 9098 on June 12, 2023, which adopts a new Zoning Code - Effective July 12, 2023 (PDF) and Zoning Map (PDF). The City worked with ZoneCo to update the Zoning Code, which was originally adopted in 1975 with text amendments over the years as needed. Updating the Zoning Code was a priority of the City's based on recommendations of recent City planning documents (the Future Land Use Plan and Community Action Plan (PDF)) and to implement community goals.
