Efficiency Smart Program
Bowling Green is ready for the official launch of American Municipal Power's Efficiency Smart Program on January 1, 2011. The goal of the program is to assist residential, commercial , and industrial customers to lower their power bills by installing energy efficient equipment and systems. The program will also help to keep power bills lower for everyone by avoiding higher priced power in the future. BG is one of over 50 communities enrolled or considering participating in Efficiency Smart.
The communities that join Efficiency Smart are funding the program in order to achieve a target amount of electrical energy savings over three years. Each community has a specific target for savings that are based on the characteristics of the community. The savings for energy efficiency will be cost-effective and cheaper than new power supply costs. Efficiency Smart will track and report savings achieved in every participating community and the savings will be verified annually by an independent, third party evaluator.
All residential, commercial, and industrial customers of communities that have subscribed to Efficiency Smart are eligible to receive services.
Efficiency Smart will provide technical assistance, to assess energy efficiency opportunities, and financial incentives (including rebates) directly to customers to help lower the cost of making energy efficient improvements. They will work with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to make it easier for residents & businesses to find the products and services that will lower power bills.
